04/25/13 The PHS Band Department was recently offered a chance to perform a community or school service project in an effort to raise funds for the band program. Oliver Ford will be doing another “Drive-4-UR-School” fund-raising event with the music department on Saturday, May 18th. Ford Motor Company is offering incentives for school organizations to double their fund-raising proceeds by performing a service-based project for their community or school.

The PHS Band decided to do their service project for the high school in an effort to clean up and improve the campus before the upcoming graduation ceremonies. The band students chose the north entrance to PHS (commonly used by most parents to enter for graduation) for their project. The band members pulled weeds, raked and seeded bare spots in the grass, planted over a dozen hostas and other perennials, and replaced all of the mulch around the north side of the school.

The students will also be planting flowers in the bed around the PHS sign in front of the school.

If you drive by the north side of the school, you will see a huge improvement in the appearance of the lawn.

A big THANK YOU to all of the band members for their efforts to improve the PHS campus!
