05/09/13 The Plymouth High School Speech Team will be hosting Showcase 2013 on Saturday, May 11 at 7 p.m. to give the entire community an opportunity to hear accomplished performances. The showcase will give 11 competitors heading to the National Catholic League Forensic (NCFL) tournament in Philadelphia, PA over Memorial Day. Two of the 11 will also be competing on the national level at the National Forensic league (NFL) tournament in Birmingham, AL in June.

According to Head Speech Coach David McKenzie, the event is held each year at no charge; however, donations would be appreciated. Both trips require competitors to fund their own portion by obtaining sponsorships from their families, local organizations and businesses.

Act I performances on Saturday will feature Garrick Nate and Michaila Nate in Duo Congress. Garrick will give an original speech on a current event and Michaila will cross-examine him. Other performances will be given by Kaylee Lowry, Original Oratory; Gracie Gilbertson, Prose or Poetry; Emily McKenzie, Declamation; and Shelby Pratt, Humor.

Act II will have performances by Meghan Egierski, Declamation; April Bowen, Drama; Pauline Dagaas, Original Oratory; Travis Tredway/Chase Holzwart, Duo; and Michaila Nate, USA Extemporaneous Speaking.

Michaila Nate is heading to the NFL Tournament after qualifying for the third time. She is ranked number 8 in the nation in NFL points for her ongoing winning records at tournaments throughout the years. She is preparing for Extemp Commentary, Extemp Debate, and Impromptu in addition to her main event.  April Bowen qualified in Drama and is perfecting a prose as a supplemental event.

Those attending the Saturday night Showcase 2013 at 7 p.m. should enter through Door 5 at PHS and follow signage to the Studio Theater.
