Piece of Metal from Vehicle Hits and Kills Driver

  05/30/13  On Tuesday, May 28th at 2:46 P.M. Marshall County Police Officer Joe Giordano responded to a one vehicle accident on State Road 17 south of 10B Road. 

  During the investigation of the accident it was learned that a 1999 Dodge Ram driven by 50 year old Roy Jackson Jr. of Plymouth was traveling northbound on State Road 17 and he was hauling a minivan on a two-wheel tow-dolly.  As Jackson was driving north an iron taillight housing broke loose from the left fender of the tow dolly.  The piece of metal crashed through the windshield a 2001 Ford Ranger driven by 57 year old Manis Stacy Jr. of Knox striking Stacy in the head.  Mr. Stacy’s pick-up truck traveled off the roadway near 10621 through a long grassy area into a newly planted farm field and into a tree-lined fence row striking a tree head on and coming to rest on its side.

  Marshall County Coroner Bill Cleavenger prounced 57 year old, Manis Stacy Jr. dead at the scene.


  The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, was assisted at the scene by Plymouth Fire and EMS and the Marshall County Coroner’s Office. 


  Starke County Sheriff Oscar Cowen assisted with notification of Mr. Stacy’s family in Knox.


  Marshall County Sheriff Tom Chamberlin said the driver and occupant of the Dodge truck did not have any knowledge of the accident.  A report will be forward to the prosecutor’s office for any criminal charges.   


Marshall County Coroner Bill Cleavenger advised that the investigation into this accident is ongoing.
