11/18/13 First graders at Washington Discovery Academy have spent eight weeks exploring the systems in the body.  They have had ten guest speakers during the weeks including doctors, nurses and representatives from the American Red Cross and conducting research.

A first grade parent told the students their family’s story how a blood donation saved their child’s life.  That child happens to be in first grade at Discovery.

As part of their projects the students were split into groups to create presentation on making healthy choices and persuading other to become blood donors.  As part of the project the students will hold an American Red Cross Blood Drive at Washington Discovery Academy on Tuesday, November 26th from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the gymnasium. This will be a Pint Size Hero Blood Drive.

To schedule an appointment to donate call 1-800 Red Cross (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org for information.
