10/03/13 The Plymouth Athletic Booster Club is keeping busy this fall raising funds for our talented student athletes from Riverside Intermediate, Lincoln Jr. High and Plymouth High School.
On Tuesday, October 1st, 2013 during the 7th and 8th grade Football game against Whitko at the Rock Pile, Lincoln Jr. High was presented with a $4,000.00 check from the funds raised by the Plymouth Athletic Booster Club.
Within a single school year the boosters raise over $24,000.00 in funds to present to all three schools to help with transportation, uniforms, and anything the Athletic Directors deem is a necessity for their athletes to perform successfully.
PABC also separately funds an Outstanding Student Athlete Scholarship Program. Each school year PABC along with help from the PHS staff pick one senior male and one senior female outstanding student athlete per month throughout the school year that meets the requirements of being in the top 25% of the senior class, a contributing member of their team and has no strike on their record. Then at the end of the school year, one male and one female nominee will both be presented with a $2,000.00 scholarship.
“We work all year long on raising funds for our student athletes so their parents don’t ever have to worry about paying for their child to be in a sport, like most area schools that have gone too within the past few years due to the high cost of fuel and transportation etc…”, says Vice President Gwen Demont-Calvert. Gwen also added that the scholarship program is a great way to honor our senior athletes for all their hard work and dedication through out their high school career. The chosen nominees are great role models for our future athletes and represent our community in a positive way.
PABC raise their money through the “All Sports Pass” which with a membership allows you to enter all sporting events within Riverside Intermediate, Lincoln Junior High, and Plymouth High School (excluding varsity football and varsity boys basketball). The “tailgate party” concessions serving delicious grilled burgers, brats, dogs and chicken sandwiches under the PABC pavilion at all home PHS varsity football games, the half time kick sponsored by Joe Martin Jr. at Country Auto, merchandise sales, homecoming t shirts, half time roll during the basketball games sponsored by Oliver Ford and so much more.
