02/22/13 Dean Byers was the guest speaker at the Februrary 19th meeting of the Plymouth Optimist Club.

He shared with the Optimists about the new housing repair program, appropriately called “Brush With Kindness”

This is part of Habitat for Humanity’s approach to help low-income homeowners with repairs, lawn clean-up, and painting. This way they can continue to live independently and securely in their homes.

A Brush With Kindness is part of Habitat International’s initiative, which is a holistic approach, assisting communities and well as families. It is designed to revitalize the appearance of the neighborhood, encouraging connections within the community, and most importantly helps preserve affordable housing stock.

This volunteer work will be done in the summer months, and Brush With Kindness is looking for individuals, church and civic groups to help with this much needed service.

If you have ever been helped by Habitat or received any outside help, and want to be part of returning something to your community this would be a wonderful opportunity to show your gratitude. If you have a group you belong to and want to get involved, here is your chance to make a difference. If you as an individual want to be of help please contact Habitat for Humanity of Marshall County.
