02/05/13 The Plymouth School Board will meet on Tuesday, February 5 at 7:00 p.m. in the Administration Board Room. The meeting is open to the public; however comments from the public are restricted to agenda items only.

Agenda items include: Introduction of Focus on Learning; report on Classroom Innovations Grant; and consideration of the 2013-2014 school year calendar.

The Board will also be considering a contract with a safety consultant. During the January, 2013 meeting, Superintendent Daniel Tyree was given permission to pursue interviewing potential safety consultants who would review current safety policies and procedures for the school corporation and make recommendations if warranted.

Tyree will be seeking the Board’s permission to fill the following secondary positions: Vocational Agriculture teacher, PHS/Weidner School of Inquiry; Chemistry teacher, PHS/Weidner School of Inquiry; Chemistry or Chemistry/Physics teacher, PHS; English teacher, PHS/Weidner School of Inquiry; Vocational Business Education teacher. PHS/Weidner School of Inquiry; Vocal Music teacher, PHS; 7th Grade Science teacher, Lincoln Jr. High School; and Possible Project Based Learning teacher at Riverside Intermediate School

Usually the superintendent seeks permission to schedule summer school classes during the regular February meeting each year. However, due to the change in the Superintendent of Public Instruction at the state level, the process has been slowed down. Tyree will be making recommendations to run the summer programming based on last year’s schedule and to advertise for teachers. At the elementary level, reading classes would be scheduled as warranted. Proposed classes at the high school level for credit would be offered in English, Algebra, Geometry, United States History, Government, Economics and Speech.

The Board will consider the retirement of Sharon Van Meter, administrative assistant at PHS. The retirement would be effective as of April 1, 2013. Van Meter has been with the schools since August of 1980.
