09/10/13 The Plymouth School Board will be holding three meetings on Tuesday, September 10 at the Administration Board Room on Berkley St. Beginning at 7:00 p.m., the Board will hold a budget hearing for the proposed 2014 budgets, proposed 2014 capital projects plan, and for the proposed 2014 bus replacement plan.

Directly following the budget hearing (approximately 7:15 p.m.), they will hold an additional appropriation hearing. The appropriation being considered in the amount not to exceed $1,425,000 is for the renovation and improvements of facilities with the school corporation, including safety and security improvement. Taxpayers of the school corporation have the right to be heard on the matter.

The regular board meeting will follow at approximately 7:30 p.m. Agenda items include a Focus on Learning presentation featuring Washington Discovery Academy, Consideration of the contract with Michiana Behavioral Healthcare, and the ratification the Master Contract.

The total estimated costs proposed in the Michiana Behavioral Healthcare contract is $180,570. The Plymouth School Corporation  provides two full-time teachers, two full- time aides, benefits, equipment, training and part-time services of a secretary. Payments are made in equal monthly payments of $18,057 from August 2013 until May, 2014.

The Master Contract between the Plymouth Community School Corporation and Plymouth Education Association (PEA) is established for the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 school years. PEA is an affiliate of the Indiana State Teachers Association and the National Education Association. The contract would be signed by Todd Samuelson, Board president; Daniel Tyree, superintendent and chairman of the Board’s negotiation team; and Robert Pickell, negotiation chairperson (PEA).

Board meetings are open to the public; however, comments are limited to agenda items only.
