Police and Fire Monthly Reports

  02/15/13 Plymouth City department heads presented their monthly reports to Board of Public Works and Safety members during this week’s meeting.

Plymouth Fire Chief Rod Miller’s report shows this department responded to 177 alarms during January.  135 calls were for EMS and 16 medical assists requests.  9 times last month fire and or EMS were cancelled en route and 8 times it was false alarms.  The Fire Department responded to 2 structure fires, 1 vehicle fire, 1 electrical wiring problem, 1 chemical release, a single water problem, an unintentional system operation and 1 good intent call.

Looking at the alarms for the Fire Department by district shows 110 in Plymouth, 31 in West Township, 17 in Center Township, 3 in LaPaz and1 in Culver.  Paramedic assists in January included  for Walkerton, 3 for LaPaz, 2 for Culver, 2 listed at other, and 1 each for Argos, Starke County and another location.

New Police Chief Dave Bacon’s activity report starts with 698 calls for information, 324 security checks, 200 complaints, 168 9-1-1 calls, 133 traffic stops, 127 investigations and 105 calls for service.  City officers investigated 40 property damage accidents, responded to 39 alarms checked on 31 suspicious vehicles, issued 29 $2 parking tickets and used the K9 19 times.  Plymouth Police did 18 criminal arrests, served 16 warrants, checked on 16 suspicious people, investigated 14 thefts, made 13 traffic arrests, and located 6 open doors or windows.  City officers conducted 6 welfare checks, responded to 4 batteries and 2 domestic fights, and 1 accident.
