Purdue Extension Offers Farmland Leasing Program

October 7, 2013

10/08/13 Farmers, landowners, bankers, and farm managers can benefit from attending the upcoming program Finding Balance in Farmland Lease Contracts.  Many times there is confusion in determining a fair value for land rents and which lease option matches the expectations for landowners and tenants.  The Purdue Land Lease Team has developed this program along with several publications that address the many questions concerning land leases.

The program will be on October 18, 2013 starting at 9:30 a.m. and concluding at 12:30 p.m. The program will be at the Kosciusko County Justice Building lower level meeting room, 121 North Lake Street in Warsaw.

Speakers will be Tamara Ogle and Paul Marcellino,  Purdue Extension educators from the Purdue Extension Land Lease Team and  Miriam Robeson,  Attorney at Law.  Topics covered include trends in land leases, essential communication for optimum landowner- tenant relationships, determining your land’s cash rent value, types of farmland leases, legal aspects of a good lease, and understanding landowner-tenant expectations.

Purdue Extension in Elkhart, Kosciusko, Marshall, Saint Joseph and Whitley Counties are hosting the program. There is no cost for this program but registration is appreciated.  For registration or additional information contact Kelly Heckaman at 574-372-2340 or email
