11/08/13 The Indiana State Police is currently investigating an alleged battery involving a LaVille Elementary School bus driver and a student.

The student, a minor, reported the incident to school officials the same day of the occurrence, October 24th, 2013. The child purported to have been slapped by the driver shortly before being let off the bus in the parking lot of LaVille Elementary in Lakeville.

 

A South Bend Police Officer is allegedly the bus driver that slapped the 5th grade LaVille student just before getting off the bus at the school.  Sergeant Wayne Boocher drives bus as his part-time job for the Union North United School Corporation.  The officer has been removed from this regular position and placed on an administrative job with the department. 

School officials reported the incident to the Indiana Department of Child Services who referred the case to the Indiana State Police. The state police investigation is ongoing.
