02/01/13 In February of 2010 Detective Leo Mangus investigated an arson at the Marathon Station located at 2405 North Michigan Street. One of the suspects, Maranda L. Taylor was charged with arson and insurance fraud. Wednesday she plead guilty to a C felony for arson with intent to commit fraud. Taylor was sentenced in Superior Court I by Judge Robert Bowen to 6 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections with two of the suspended. The remaining four will be one year at the Department of Corrections and three years on home detention. She will also have two years of probation and have to pay restitution.
Her accomplice, Edward Michael Strauss plead guilty to arson and was sentenced in May of 2011 to 8 years in the Department of Corrections with 4 years suspended, 596 days served in the Marshall County Jail and 864 days on home detention.
