10/15/13 Planning for the 2014 Yellow River Festival has begun. This year’s expansion to a two day event was a great success. The group of Civil War re-enactors, Johnny Appleseed (Stephen McPhail) and Abraham Lincoln (Danny Russel) brought an air of authenticity for our festival.
We would like to thank Del Monte Corporation for sponsoring the appearance of Johnny Appleseed. We would also like to thank Marshall County Tourism, WTCA, Morrow Insurance, Schoberg and Schoberg, Johnson Danielson Funeral Home, Christos’, and many others for their donations. Their support made it possible for the committee to present a free festival for the people.
Thanks to Mayor Mark Senter and the City of Plymouth. Special thanks to Mike Hite and the crew from the Plymouth Park Department. Thank you to John Childs for directing the Liars’ Bench and the Boy Scouts for their fabulous contribution. Thanks to our food vendors for the delicious treats. Thanks also to Randy Jones for operating the sound equipment. To Dan Shuppert and Vera Tiani: a special thank you for your talents, laughter and encouragement.
We are currently seeking volunteers. If you are interested, come and join the fun. The Yellow River Festival Committee meets every third Friday at Opie’s at noon.
