05/24/13 Emergency responders were dispatched to Lincoln Highway west of Pioneer Drive Thursday morning at 11:49 for a two vehicle crash with injuries and entrapment.

Investigating officer Joe Giordano with the Sheriff’s Department learned that 76 year old Bobby Sichling of Harvey, IL was traveling west and told emergency workers he reached down to pick up something and crossed the center line.  His 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis struck head on with a 1988 Chevy Nova driven by 30 year old Cordelia Baxter of Plymouth who was traveling east on Lincoln Highway.

Baxter was trapped in her vehicle and had to be extricated by Plymouth Fire and EMS.  Her two year old daughter, Makayla was retrieved from her car-seat by a passerby and had suffered a severe laceration to her forehead.  They were transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend by Plymouth ambulances for treatment of their injuries.

Bobby Sichling was transported to Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth for a complaint of chest pains.

This crash remains under investigation by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.
