05/29/13 At Triton Elementary School, 33 sixth grade students participated in a project based learning program called “THE PUSHCART WARS” for the last seven weeks of school. These student read the book The Pushcart Wars and have been discussing topics like: Economics, Point of View, Unfair Taxes and Market Inflation, Conspiracy Theories, Cost Analysis, Profit and Loss, Power of Public Demonstrations and had to research and create a business of their own. Their businesses were displayed on Friday, May 17th, and the entire elementary student body was able to buy their products during their lunch hour. There were a total of 11 businesses and they raised a total of $1,352.00 for Triton Elementary. The students would like to thank the students, parents and staff that helped make this possible.
