10/11/13 Lacey Nicole Holzwart, 24, of rural Argos was handed a 16 year prison sentence to the Indiana Department of Corrections for selling LSD to a confidential informant in a controlled buy arrangement. Senior Judge Walter Palmer approved a previously filed agreement between Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Nelson Chipman and defense attorney Edward Ruiz. Two years of the sentence was suspended.
Holzwart admitted in open court that on September 27, 2012, Officer Nick Young, then with the Plymouth Police Department, now with Bremen, and assigned to the Undercover Narcotics Investigation Team, obtained information from a confidential source that Holzwart was selling LSD. Young had the source arrange by telephone a purchase at Holzwart’s home in the 19000 block of Linden Road, near Argos. On October 1, 2012, the source was given $200 in cash and driven to Holzwart’s home. Holzwart invited the source into the home where the purchase of 120 doses of LSD was completed in exchange for the $200.
By the time Holzwart was arrested on the LSD case in May of 2013, she had accumulated numerous other charges, including two counts of forgery and two counts of theft, possession of methamphetamine, false informing, possession of precursors, dealing in heroin, and conspiracy to deal in heroin within 1000 feet of a public park. All of those charges were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
Chipman noted, “The 16 year sentence imposed reflects the numerous other allegations and illegal activities of Ms. Holzwart, even though ultimately those cases were dismissed. That is part of the give and take of plea negotiations.”
