12/23/13 Mitch Mawhorter, Union-North United superintendent, credits much of their success to the efforts of the entire staff and their willingness to keep current in the best teaching methods. Four mornings a week, teachers and administrators meet at 7:20 A.M. for professional development sessions before students arrive. Additionally, administrators hold meetings to plan what information or ideas they want to incorporate in the morning meetings. Mawhorter said, “We are very pleased to have Shawn Hill on our staff to help with our curriculum.” Hill serves as both a curriculum coach and a freshman English teacher.

Staff at the junior high level has raised their grade from an “F” in 2010 to a  “C” for 2013. Mawhorter said, “Our work is paying off.” The combined LaVille Jr.-Sr. High School grade is currently at a “B”.

For the fourth year in a row, LaVille Elementary has an “A”. Mawhorter said, “They even raised their 3.75 percentage to a perfect 4.00 for 2013.

Mawhorter said, “We just have a great group of teachers and administrators.”
