WALORSKI CO-SPONSORS THE GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN FAIRNESS ACT

October 1, 2013
By

10/01/13 Congresswoman Jackie Walorski (IN-02) announced her support for H.R. 3160, the Government Shutdown Fairness Act, a bill to prohibit Members of Congress from receiving a salary during a government shutdown.

“The concept is simple.  If lawmakers cannot work together and get the job done for the sake of the American people, then we should not get paid,” said Walorski.  “I remain focused on a commonsense plan to responsibly fund the government and dismantle Obamacare—providing essential services for our seniors, veterans, and hardworking families.  In addition, I am pleased the president and Senate passed and signed our House bill to fund military pay during a government shutdown.”

Walorski also co-sponsored the Pay Our Military Act (H.R. 3210), introduced by Congressman Mike Coffman, which President Obama signed into law late Monday night.  This legislation provides pay for active duty members of the Armed Forces, reserve components, and Department of Defense (DoD) civilian personnel and contractors offering support to active duty servicemembers.

In America governance is supposed to indicate representation not rule. Not governance as in lording it over us…governance as in preserving the peoples rights and freedoms while being a good steward of the monies you collect from the citizens.

Wouldn’t it be a nice change if they followed Indiana’s lead by not spending all the money and sending some back to the people. You know, the ones who pay taxes.

Saw her talk on the floor today, she seems to be doing fine. Concerned about the people and their money…

Quit grandstanding and get on with the people’s business. Governance!
