03/13/13 Congresswoman Jackie Walorski (IN-02) today joined members of the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System, Parkview Health, and other elected officials to introduce plans for a new veteran’s mental health facility. The Parkview Hospital Randallia campus is set to begin construction on the VA Fort Wayne Outpatient Clinic for Northern Indiana veterans in the coming weeks.
“As a member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, it is a privilege to join the VA and Parkview Health to announce this important partnership,” said Walorski. “The establishment of this facility is a step in the right direction, providing access to specialized mental health care for our deserving veterans in Northern Indiana.”
Specialized services for customized mental health care is a growing need within the VA and amongst our nation’s veterans. The partnership between the VA and Parkview Health includes a $5 million renovation to build a 27,000-square-foot facility, leased by the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System for 20 years. The VA plans to hire 97 mental health and health administration personnel staffers to handle day-to-day operations in the expanded clinic.
“Moving forward, I look forward to improving services and benefits for the 50,000 veterans in Indiana’s Second District. It is critical that Congress continues to work with the VA—especially expediting benefits and reducing wait-list time for our veterans and their families,” said Walorski.
Walorski joined Congressman Marlin Stutzman (IN-03) and representatives from the offices of Senators Dan Coats (R-IN) and Joe Donnelly (D-IN) to introduce plans for the state-of-the-art outpatient clinic.
