11/06/13 The National Honor Society of Argos Community High School is holding a coat drive for local students in need. Friday, November 1st through Monday, December 2nd, boxes will be placed in the Argos Community Jr.-Sr. High School office, as well as the elementary office. This isn’t only a coat drive; it’s a winter apparel drive. All sizes of new or gently used hats, scarves, gloves, sweatshirts, boots, and coats, are being accepted.

Staff members around the school have noticed more than a few students coming in without coats, which is becoming a serious issue as autumn inches into winter. National Honor Society sponsor Sonia Williams has decided to take action. Under the guidance of Williams, NHS will be accepting these donations. NHS is the nation’s premier organization which recognizes outstanding high school students. It is an institution that honors students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. NHS is trying to provide proper attire to children in need, in hopes of fostering optimism and a positive attitude among recipients.

In order to make this drive a success, the Argos National Honor Society is asking every person who is able to help. Anyone who has gently used winter apparel can donate to help improve the lives of needy people in the community.
