Yellowstone Trail Fest has “Thomas the Trackless Train” and More

August 4, 2013

08/05/13 As August 16, 17, and18 approaches a dozen committee members have been organizing a celebration in Hamlet at the Starke County Fairgrounds.  Upon learning of the towns 150th Anniversary they have made this the focus of their celebration.  So you will find contest and tournaments of skill with cash prizes as in days past.  Although, the horse races in the street have been replaced with a mounted gun runners demo.

Saturday, August 17th from 2 till 4 the Kid O’Rama is an activity organized to allow children to experience how to play without modern day conveniences; some are actual pioneer games.  But for the 3 day celebration much will be available not so ancient, like six wet/dry inflatable’s, a reptile zoo, and yes the trackless train ride to tour the fair grounds, great for all ages!  The schedule can be viewed on the website at form more details and to find times for events such as Vintage Fashion show, Car Show and cruise, Miss Yellowstone, Youth Bands, Blood Mobile, Rendezvous, and more.

A unique finish to the fest will be 1863 circuit rider, Pastor Wright, of the Hamlet Lutheran church doing his sermon and hymnal at the stage. Plus a visit by Mrs. Noah to tell all what is was like to face the peer pressure before the rain and so much more.

Fun fact, the town of Hamlet for their 100th Anniversary had 300 entries in the Parade.  Want to be a part of history join them Sunday, August 18th so they can beat this number, with a float, car, bicycle, wagon, or just walk with a flag, their theme:  An oldie, but a goodie!
