FILING DEADLINE NEARING

  01/28/13 Little more than a week remains for interested parties to file their candidacy in the Clerk’s Office.    The last day to file is February 7, 2014 at noon.

According to Julie Fox, Marshall County Clerk, there have been no filings for German Township Trustee, German Township Board or Tippecanoe Township Board. 

Delegates to both the Republican and Democratic state conventions will also be elected during the primary election on May 6 and several slots are still available for both parties.District One Commissioner’s seat which covers German, North and Polk townships currently has a four way race including incumbent Jack Roose, Steve Engel, Stan Klotz and Heath Thornton.

In addition to all township trustee and township board seats being up for election, there are also  four county council seats:  District One now represented by Matt Hassel which includes German and Bourbon townships.

John Benedict who currently represents District Two on the County Council has opted to not seek re-election.  Bill Githens and Joyce Greeson have both filed to represent citizens of Green, Tippecanoe, Union, Walnut and West townships.

Don Morrison, incumbent councilman for District Three is currently unopposed.  His district includes all of Polk and North townships as well as precincts five, six and seven of Center Township.

The remainder of Center Township is represented by Judith Stone, the Republican incumbent who is also currently unopposed.

Fox also reminds residents that the last day to register to vote in the May primary or transfer one’s registration is 4:00 P.M. on Monday, April 7, 2014.
