An officer with the Marshall County Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on US 31 at the intersection of Park Street in LaPaz just before 3 Wednesday morning.
During the investigation it was determined that the driver, 24 year old Donjai Chandler of South Bend was in Possession of Marijuana.
A passenger in the vehicle, 24 year old Michael Rucker of South Bend, was found to be in possession of marijuana, cocaine, and a controlled substance.
An additional passenger, 23 year old Mitcheal Davis of South Bend was in possession of marijuana and a handgun. All three subjects were taken into custody and each was booked in to the Marshall County Jail on $1,505 cash bond. Their court date was set for September 16, in Superior Court II. Marshall County Police Dept. was assisted with a trooper from the Indiana State Police and Lyons Towing.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
