County News_logoWith very little comment during Monday’s public hearing at the Commissioner’s meeting the request to vacate an unimproved portion of 3B Road between Olive and Quince was granted.

This issue has been before the commissioners for several months. Beth and Dan Cashen want to build a home on property they own and have been seeking an address for such since June. With the Beagle Club and Pike Lumber in the area there was concern. The County Plan Commission gave a favorable recommendation to the vacation along the Cashen property.

It was noted that the Cashens will provide ground for a 120 foot cal-de-sack at the end of 3B Road.

In other business it was noted that the lease on the farm ground on Shady Rest will expire at the end of the year. The auditor will advertise for bids. The commissioners will accept bids on a per-acre basis during their November 17th meeting. The lease period will be for three years, from January 1, 2015 until December 31, 2017th.

The County will be hiring a new County Weights and Measures employee. Jim Wenino announced that he will retire at the end of the year after 10 years on the job. It was noted that there is a state test to become certified for the position.
