DSC_0103 The Oliver family hosted a celebration Saturday showcasing 50 years of the Ford Mustang. From 1964 to 2014, Ford has continued to make the Mustang, and only a couple of hard-to-find years were not able to be represented at Oliver’s event. Those include a couple in the mid-70s range. More than 220 Mustangs were on display. DSC_0051 Highlighting one of the largest, organized unique car show was a group photo that also included the car owners, taken by Jayme Goetz, photographer, thanks to the aerial “bucket” truck and the Plymouth Fire Department. Following the gathering, car owners created more unique history: a Mustang parade through downtown Plymouth. Onlookers were able to witness more than 200 Mustangs traveling from Oliver Ford to the downtown area, led by police escort, on to Baker Street and back to the dealership, which will be celebrating an anniversary of its own: 60 years in 2015.

“Justin Murphy walked into my office and said we better start registration because traffic was backed up to 31,” said Jessica Oliver, “and I thought he was teasing. I walked out the parts door and I think my chin hit the ground!”
Oliver said she never imagined the car lot full of Mustangs “and them lining up on Jefferson as far as I could see, it was awesome!”

She added, “The excitement my brother (John) had reminded me of the night before Christmas when we were kids. I’m sure my Grandfather’s smile was as wide as my Dad’s as the parade took off heading west on Jefferson as a few Mustangs laid rubber in front of the dealership. I don’t think any of us could have asked for anything more, it was a great day!”
