Indiana State Police Trooper Mike Gruett investigated a two vehicle accident at US 30 and King Road Wednesday morning.  This crash involved a school bus and a dump truck.

The crash occurred when a 2012 Wawasee Freightliner school bus was transporting 47 students and 2 adults westbound on US 30.  As the bus was approaching the automatic signal at King Road a tri-axle dump truck that was eastbound on US 30 was making a left turn on to King Road with the green left turn arrow.

The school bus driver, 59 year old Patricia Myers of Syracuse did not see the solid red light and disregarded the red light striking the dump truck in the passenger’s side.

Six of the 47 students complained of pain and were transported to Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth where they were treated for injuries and released.

The crash investigation is continuing and will be forwarded to the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office for review.  At this time drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash.

The Indiana State Police were assisted at the scene by Marshall County Police, Plymouth Fire and EMS, Union North EMS, Carnegie Towing, Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center and several Wawasee School officials.
