11/27/13 Michael and Leonard Isban of American Containers asked the Plymouth Common Council to declare their property on Western Avenue as an economic revitalization area. The resolution by the Council is the first step in the company seeking a tax abatement for personal property and an addition to their location.
American Container will be seeking a10 year personal property abatement for an addition to the plant that will cost $3 million. The company currently makes packaging products for Home Depot, Masonite and Jeld-Wen. The added equipment would allow them to move into printing corrugated plastic and add a client in Lowe’s.
In addition to the equipment addition American Containers anticipates making an investment in construction on their location of $2.5 to $3 million to add warehousing and storage as well as re-organize their production area.
The company currently employs 47 people and anticipates adding up to three new positions immediately with a possibility of three more after renovations are complete. The average salary of employees is $41,000.
If the abatement is approved the company anticipates purchasing the equipment this year with delivery in April or May of 2014.
