County Council Approves 2 Dept. Heads for Highway Dept.

July 15, 2014

County News_logoA change in leadership was approved for the Marshall County Highway Department.
County Commissioner Deb Griewank and member of the county’s personnel committee appeared before the County Council this week seeking new job descriptions and titles for the top spots over the county’s roads.
The two new positions approved were a Highway Administrative Manager and a Supervisor of County Highways. Griewank said, “We are in the process of changing around a couple of job descriptions. We are going to combine the two individuals to work together.” She explained, the Highway Administrative Manager will basically be in the office handling the federal rules and regulations with IDEM and FEMA monies, helping out with paperwork and could act as a parts runner when necessary.
Griewank explained the Supervisor of County Highways would have the same duties as the general foreman with the addition of a bit more responsibility. This position would be over the drivers, mechanics and those working out of the shop.
The two positions will be appointed by the Marshall County Commissioner annually and will be under the control of the commissioners. It is anticipated that the announcement of filling the positions will be filled at the July 21st Commissioner’s meeting.
