01/31/14  Fire fighters from LaPaz were dispatched to US 31 and 1st Road at 10:42 Thursday morning for an Allied Waste trash-truck that’s load was on fire.

Bob Stone, Operations Manager for the Republic Services Operation in Culver said that one of their commercial customers either put something hot in the trash or that come materials combined and ignited.

The Allied driver saw the fire and pulled the truck over.  Eventually the load had to be dumped in the roadway so firefighters from LaPaz could extinguish the blaze.  Crews were on the scene for a short period of time.

Once the trash fire was out, workers from Allied Waste had to re-load the trash truck with the burnt material.

There was no damage to the trash truck or driver.
