Monthly reports were presented by the Plymouth Fire Chief and Police Chief during Monday night’s Board of Public Works and Safety meeting.

The Plymouth Fire Department had a total of 175 EMS and Fire alarm situations during the month of April.  There were 135 Emergency Medical Service calls and 8 medical assists.  Emergency responders were cancelled en route 7 times.  There were 6 natural vegetation fires last month, 4 structure fires, 3 false alarms, 2 vehicle fires and 2 good intent calls.  Other calls Plymouth Fire and EMS responded to included one each for a flammable spill, hazardous condition, a hazmat release investigation with no hazmat, an outside trash fire, one special outdoor fire, and steam mistaken for smoke, an unauthorized burn, and an unintentional system operation.

Incidents by district in April show 4 in Argos, 1 in Culver, 2 for LaPaz, 21 in Center Township, 22 in West Township and 119 in Plymouth.  Paramedic assists included 1 for Argos, 1 for LaPaz, 1 in Walkerton and 4 for Culver.   

Fire fighters and EMS had a total of 122 hours of training in April.

The Plymouth Police Department answered 753 calls for information last month.  Officers handled 189 complaints, responded to 180 9-1-1 calls, conducted 157 residential security checks, and 34 vehicle checks. The city’s K9 was used 28 times last month and officers handled 29 code enforcement violations.  Plymouth Police issues 83 citations, wrote 31 accident reports and made 55 arrests.
