City NEwsIn early May the Plymouth Common Council approved a $300,000 additional appropriation from the Motor Vehicle Highway Fund to complete a second round of street and sidewalk projects.
Monday night the Board of Public Works and Safety opened bids from five companies. Those interested in doing work for the city were Niblock from Columbia City with a bid of $319,300; Reith-Riley from South Bend with a bid of $323,740; Phend and Brown from Milford with a bid of $339,686; E & B Paving out of Rochester with a bid of $356,530.57 and Walsh & Kelly from South Bend with a bid of $449,925.
Projects being considered for the second round of mill and fill projects include:
Hillcrest Avenue: From State Road 17 to Crimson Lane
Pennsylvania Avenue: From Michigan Street through the Liberty Street intersection
Water Street: From Garro Street to Adams Street
Adams Street: From Water Street to Michigan Street
Orchid Court: From Hillcrest thru the cul-de-sac
Novelty Street: From Michigan Street to Plum Street
First Street: From Jefferson Street to Monroe Street
Madison Street: From First Street to Plum Street
Liberty Street: From Pennsylvania Avenue to LaPorte Street
Liberty Street: From LaPorte Street to Rex Street and
Liberty Street: From Rex Street to Jefferson Street
City Clerk Treasurer Toni Hutching, Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt and City Engineer Rick Gaul will review the bids and prioritize the streets, trying to get the most for the funds available.
