A Plymouth man was arrested over the weekend for strangulation.
At 1:50 Saturday morning Argos Police Officer Davis responded to a physical domestic call at 505 West Marshall Street, the residence of Jessica DeMont. During the investigation it was determined by the officer that there was sufficient evidence to arrest 37 year old James Michael Buffington Jr of State Road 17 in Plymouth for battery by means of strangulation and battery resulting in bodily injury.
Buffington was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked in at 3 a.m. Saturday on a $1,505 cash bond. He was released at 10:35 a.m. Saturday after posting bond and was given a September 2nd date for his initial hearing in Marshall Superior Court II.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
