City NEwsThere were a number of items on the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety meeting Monday night.

Fuel bids were open for 15,000 gallons of diesel fuel and 24,000 gallons of gasoline. Three companies presented bids including Lemler Oil from Bourbon, North Central Coop and Bellman Oil. The bids were taken under advisement.

Street material bids were also open from Stockberger Trucking and IMI. Bids were taken under advisement for approval at the next city meeting.

Mark Sullivan from Midwestern Engineers told Board of Works members the Berrenbrook and Jefferson Streets storm sewer project was complete. He presented change order number one noting the contract was based on unit pricing and the estimated quantities were higher than actual creating a savings. Sullivan did not two issues that were not anticipated and caused the cost of the project to increase.

The project was originally estimated at $412,067 but the final cost was $5555,67 over estimated with a final total of $417,622.67

Sullivan also asked the Board to approve the substantial completion certificate. He noted that a punch list was not yet finalized and that there will be some seeding the needs to be finished in the spring. The Board of Public Works and Safety approved the request.

Plymouth Fire Chief. Rod Miller was granted permission to begin the hiring process to replace a full-time paramedic/firefighter for his department and Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt will begin the process to fill a vacancy early next year when his secretary, Sally Smith retires after 26 ½ years of service.
