PLYMOUTH, IN – The Ancilla men’s basketball team (6-4) saw their eight game home winning streak snapped as NJCAA #8 Cincinnati State upended the Chargers 81-68.

Coming into the game, Ancilla was 5-0 at home this season and had won their last three games at home last season, but a strong second half from the visiting Surge led to the first home loss for the Chargers since February 8, 2014.

Ancilla led 37-33 at intermission, but were outscored by seventeen in the second half behind 18-32 shooting from the field by Cincinnati State. Ancilla ended the game an impressing 14-16 at the free throw line.

“We played a strong first half, which allowed us to go to the break up four,” started Ancilla coach Aaron Butcher. “We gave up too many offensive rebounds in the second half and gave them too many second chance points. With the makeup of this team, we can’t shoot 6-23 from three and expect to win games.”

Juwan Johnson added to his team high 17.7 points per game by dropping in 25 points. Johnson also led the team in rebounds, with eight. Mike Wickliff finished in double digits with twelve points.

Ancilla returns to action to host Ivy Tech of Indianapolis on Thursday night, December 11 at the LifePlex. Tipoff is slated for 7:00 p.m., following the 5:30 p.m. women’s game.
