ChipDean_chiefsA special presentation was conducted during last night’s Board of Public Works and Safety. Mayor Senter said, “When I hear good things about what city employees do, it makes my heart swell. This is a special night because we have someone here who’s live was saved by the police department and fire department.” He continued, “Some would say that’s their job but believe me, it goes beyond that.”

ChipDean_JohnWeirLocal business man Chip Dean was invited to the podium to make his own presentation. He said, “You never know what happens from day to day. You think everything is fine and then all of a sudden and with the snap of your finger you’re gone.”

ChipDean_JonathonBryantDean said, “You hear about heroes and people out there doing good deeds all the time but I don’t think none of them get thanked enough for what they do every single day.” He then turned toward the crowd gathered in the Council Chambers and said, “I want to extend that to every one of you that was there for me.”

He presented a plaque as a token of his appreciation to the police and fire chiefs and asked them to hang them on the wall “so every day when you guys come to work you see that somebody cares about what you’re doing and that someone appreciates it.” He also presented plaques to Plymouth Police Officers John Weir and Bob DeLee, Paramedics Eric Cox and Deanna Cleveland and County Officer Jonathon Bryant.

ChipDean_EricCoxMayor Senter asked Chip Dean to elaborate on the issue he had. Dean said he had had a couple of blackouts and went to the doctor where an angioplasty was completed and showed no blockage. Although he had high blood pressure and cholesterol they sent him home. A week and a half later he had an issue but didn’t go to the hospital. The next day, October 19th he felt good, went to breakfast and then went out with the dogs and said, “that’s about all I remember.” He thanked his fiancé who had the wits about her to call 9-1-1.

Dean also thanked everyone who had anything to do with making sure the new defibrillators in the officer’s cars. He said, “It’s because of that that I’m here.”
