03/07/14  On Monday, March 7th Plymouth Police Officer Shelley Cleveland responded to the 900 block of South Michigan Street in reference to a battery.  Arriving at the residence Officer Cleveland located and arrested 23 year old Clayton T. Chitwood who resided at the location.  It was alleged that Mr. Chitwood had struck his roommate.  He was taken into custody for battery and interference with reporting of a crime.  He was transported to the Marshall County Jail and held on a $755 cash bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
