Pregis_logoPregis Protective Packaging Solutions, an international manufacturer of polyethylene bubble wrap, foam, and other packaging materials, plans to expand its Plymouth facility. This week, the Plymouth City Council approved tax abatement for Pregis’ approximately $2.3 million investment in the city. They were granted a 7 year personal property tax abatement.
Pregis was founded in 1986 and currently operates a 360,000 sq. ft. complex in Plymouth. The expansion includes the lease of a nearby 62,000 sq. ft. building to allow for the relocation of a portion of the company’s operations and the addition of new manufacturing equipment. The new equipment will be used to produce low -density polyethylene hybrid cushioning (HC) film used by Pregis’ AirSpeed Versa brand of protective packaging equipment. The new facility is expected to be operational by the end of the third quarter and will double previous production capacity. The expansion will create 10 new jobs.
“Pregis has operations throughout the country. The company’s decision to invest here, speaks well of the opportunities for business expansion and retention in Plymouth and Marshall County,” said Marshall County Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Jerry Chavez. Mayor Mark Senter said, “This is a company on the move. The City of Plymouth is glad to be a part of Pregis’ growth.”
