City HallThe Plymouth Common Council approved the 2015 budget in 2nd and 3rd readings during their meeting Monday evening.
The 2015 city budget was approved at $11,617,201.00 a 2.79 percent increase from this year’s budget. The budget is broken into three funds; the general fund of $7,409,437 and includes the clerk treasurer, mayor and council, city attorney, city engineer, city garage and warehouse, city properties and maintenance, building commissioner, fire department, police department, storm sewer, sanitation department, city lights and power and animal welfare.
The second groups of funds are for pension trusts and include both the fire and police pensions for a grand total of $345,359.
The final portion of the 2015 budget are the special revenue funds which include local road and streets, motor vehicle highway, law enforcement continuing education, park and recreation, aviation, cemetery, cum capital improvement, cum capital development, aviation rotary and riverboat wagering tax. The 2015 total is $3,862,405.
The Plymouth Common Council also granted the Plymouth Volunteer Firefighters permission to conduct a Boot Drive on Saturday, October 4th at the corner of Michigan and Jefferson Streets. The fundraiser is for our local Ounce Of Prevention organization. Council member and volunteer firefighter Wayne Smith said, “The volunteers have been supporting Ounce of Prevention for the past couple of years.” He also noted the pink fire truck the department has.
