The Marshall County Commissioners approved change order number one for the Metronet project during their meeting Tuesday morning.
Bart Trester from USI and Mary Jan Hedman from Saint Joe Valley Metronet appeared before the commissions with at $47,445 change order. Hedman explained the change order would be an extension of the backbone from the Sewer Treatment plant on Oak Hill Avenue westward along Glen Overmyer Drive to State Road 17. Hedman said, “This change order will provide redundancy if the path is broken.”
Trester said the project would be a bore including boring under the wetland area where the three bridges are for a total length of approximately 5,000 feet.
Commissioner Kevin Overmyer said the bid on the project came in well below anticipation so funding change order number one is available. Commissioner members approved the request.
During the update on the Metronet project Trester said the county portion of the project is 85 to 90 percent complete while the city’s portion is 75 to 80 percent complete.
