County News_logoBart Trester from USI told the Marshall County Commissioner that Metronet conduit instillation project is 95% complete. The project is divided up into the phases: phase 1 is from the Plymouth City limits north to LaVille School. Phase 2 is from LaVille Schools to the Hoosier Tire Corporate office and phase 3 is from Hoosier Tire to South Bend.

Trester said phase 2 has been inspected and approve and Saint Joe Valley Metronet is ready to have the dark fiber blown in but the project needs to be accepted as substantially complete by the county before that can be completed. The commissioners accepted that phase of the project.

Phase 3 is anticipated to be completed before the next commissioners meeting in two weeks. They approved acceptance upon approval and inspection by Trester from USI.

Phase 1 ran into a couple issues hitting a couple of drainage tiles and the commissioners made it clear that won’t approve substantial completion until the tiles are fixed.

Trester presented change order #2 for the project in the additional amount of $26,811. The change order include several miscellaneous changes, adding extra depth bores, additional conduit and on the north end rerouting the project down Ireland to the new US 31.

Trester also noted that the Plymouth portion of the project is nearly 95% complete and they too are getting ready to blow dark fiber into long portions of the project.
