Monday morning the Marshall County Council approved the 2015 budget for the Marshall County and Convention Bureau.
Cori Humes, Executive Director said the bottom-line was basically the same. The county council approved the budget at $340,450.
Taking a look at the various line items show the director’s salary at $42,000 and the assistant director’s at $35,000. Included in next year’s budget is $2,500 for an intern.
Rent for the CVB increased to $15,600 and there is $5,000 for office supplies, $2,000 for maintenance and $4,000 for utilities.
When asked about revenues Humes said she didn’t have exact numbers with but it was in the area of $230,000. She noted, “This year has been a better year than in the past so it may go up.”
Councilman Rex Gilliland commented on the Blazin’ BBQ & Bluegrass event, “I think that we will see it grown.”
Humes said, “I see it becoming a major event in our county. We have some good plans for it in 2015. It’s going to become a major event.”
