County News_logoThis morning the Marshall County Council will meet for their regular monthly meeting. This meeting will also include the Special Unit budget adoptions, the non-binding reviews of many units of government and the 2015 Budget Adoption. The meeting begins at 9 a.m. in the second floor meeting room of the County Building.

The first order of business is the Solid Waste Budget followed by the South West Lake Maxinkuckee Conservancy District Budget and the Argos Community Schools Budgets.

During their regular meeting the County Council will hear the request of Superior Court II Judge Dean Colvin who is seeking an additional appropriation for pauper counsel. Mary Jane Walsworth from the Probation Department will seek a personnel replacement and then the council will consider additional appropriation requests of $26,500 for the Coroner, $25,000 for the Surveyor, $5,000 for Superior Court II and $125,000 from the Rainy Day Fund for the Metronet Project.

Starting at 10 a.m. County Council members will begin the job of paring down the 2015 budget requests of $9,041,321 by at least $316,000. Council members will look at each department’s budget one at a time looking for places to cut spending to stay within the estimated revenues of $8,725,243.
