County News_logoDuring Monday’s County Council meeting several appointments were made including Maria Keller to another year on the local Alcohol Beverage Commission. Kevin Hines was appointed to a four year term on the Lake of the Woods Sewer District Board.

The County Council also made an appointment of Barbara Pedon to the Argos Library Board and Carol Beiter to the Plymouth Library Board.

County Auditor Penny Lukenbill suggested the County Council consider a transfer from the General Fund to the Rainy Day Fund during the meeting too. She said, “Our balance right now is $3.6 million and Kelly (Einsphar) is getting ready to cut the checks for distribution settlement this week so we are going to be getting our distribution and that will give us a good healthy balance.” She said she likes to have a cushion because the next distribution of tax funds isn’t until May.

Lukenbill offered to create a matrix to show the income, budgeted expenses and cash flow for members to consider before making a decision. She did estimate between a safe transfer of $50,000 to $100,000. She said she would prepare the required paperwork for their January meeting.

Lukenbill said, “It’s a good thing to do since are not getting anymore contribution from the income tax surplus.”
