02/19/14 Marshall County Highway Superintendent Neal Haeck told the County Commissioners that he will be taking two positions to the county’s personnel committee with updated job descriptions and seeking reclassification.  He said the newly hired sign person is also doing mechanic work and truck driving and the news part person is also doing mechanical work and plowing.

Haeck said, “Both employees are doing a whole lot more work and I need to bring their pay up to grade position.”

If approved by the personnel committee the positions would be sent on to the county’s H.R. consultant for reclassification.

Haeck told the commissioners he’s also interested in adding two more employees to the department. He said in 2002 the Highway Department had 38 employees and now through attrition he’s down to 30.  When the county assumes responsibility of US 31 from 4th Road north to the county line Haeck said he will need more manpower to maintain the road.

The commissioners did not take any action on the suggestion.
