The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the discovery of a white, female body located in a rural area just off 5th Road between Hawthorn and Grape Roads, the area is commonly referred to a Little Egypt.
Friday morning at 8:08 a walker discovered the body of a young female on the side of 5th Road and called 9-1-1.
Marshall County Police have been on the scene for hours conducting their investigation. The Indiana State Police have been assisting with the investigation and an ISP team of officers have been combing the woods for evidence.
At this point positive identification has not been confirmed but is expected to be completed by tonight.
Sheriff Tom Chamberlin said the area is a common hangout for teens and used for parking and drinking.
Chamberlin confirmed the report of a missing female from the Lake of the Woods area which was reported today.
The investigation continues with additional information expected to be released later tonight.
