02/21/14 On Tuesday, February 18th at 8:06 P.M. Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputy Phillip Beam responded to a two vehicle accident at US 6 and Thorn Road.
His investigation determined that the driver of a 2007 Pontiac, 43 year old Brucie D. Campbell of Walkerton was southbound on Thorn Road and stopped for the stop sign at US 6. As he was turning westbound onto US 6 he traveled partially across the center line causing the driver of a 2005 Kenworth, 63 year old Donald West of Ohio to steer to the right to attempt to avoid a collision. The left front of Campbell’s Pontiac struck the left side of the semi causing it leave the south side of the roadway where it struck an electric pole before coming to rest on its side.
Mr. Campbell was transported to Memorial hospital in South Bend for non-life threatening injuries. The semi driver was not injured in the crash.
Assisting at the scene were the LaPaz and Polk Fire and EMS and the Indiana State Police.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department is continuing to investigate this accident.
