MARSHALL COUNTY CORONER BILL CLEAVENGER WAS CALLED TO AN UNATTENDED DEATH ON REDWOOD ROAD JUST NORTH OF THE CULVER ACADEMIES WEDNESDAY NIGHT. 71 YEAR OLD HARVEY MOORE WAS FOUND DEAD IN HIS HOUSE BY CULVER EMS AND MARSHALL COUNTY POLICE AFTER A 911 CALL FROM A NEIGHBOR REQUESTING A WELFARE CHECK.

THE HOUSE WAS FILLED WITH TRASH AND A VERY STRONG ODOR OF ANIMAL DROPPINGS. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION OF THE SCENE, A REQUEST FOR A DETECTIVE FROM THE MARSHALL COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT WAS REQUESTED.  MOORE’S BODY WAS REMOVED TO

ST. JOSEPH REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER IN PLYMOUTH FOR FURTHER EXAMINATION.

CLEAVENGER AND DEPUTY CORONER LILLY MANSFIELD CONDUCTED A FURTHER EXAMINATION AT THE HOSPITAL WHERE NUMEROUS ANIMAL BITE MARKS WERE DISCOVERED ON THE BODY. X RAYS SHOWED NO EVIDENCE OF TRAUMA AND TOXICOLOGY SAMPLES WERE OBTAINED. ACCORDING TO THE CORONER’S OFFICE MOORE HAD BEEN IN BAD HEALTH LATELY AND SUFFERED FROM NUMEROUS HEALTH ISSUES.

MARSHALL COUNTY PATROLMAN TRAVIS O’NEILL AND DETECTIVE JEFF SNYDER ASSISTED WITH THE INVESTIGATION. CULVER FIRE DEPARTMENT PERSONEL ALSO WERE AT THE SCENE FOR HELP REMOVING THE BODY.

CLEAVENGER SAID THAT THE INVESTIGATION IS CONTINUING BUT THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF FOUL PLAY AND THE PROBABLE CAUSE WILL MOST LIKELY BE RELATED TO MOORE’S PREVIOUS HEALTH ISSUES. WHILE ON SCENE NUMEROUS RODENTS WERE SEEN AND IT IS BELIEVED THAT MOORE TREATED THEM LIKE PETS.
