03/12/14 Culver Academies will be hosting the 2014 Girls Mid-Am District Hockey Championships Friday, March 14, through Sunday, March 16. A total of 18 games will be played over the three-day tournament.

This is the first time Culver has hosted a USA Hockey tournament. Fifteen teams and 300 girls from western Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Indiana will be participating in tournaments at the U14, U16, and U19 levels. The games begin at 12:45 p.m., Friday, March 14, when Culver Girls Academy faces off against Gilmour Academy.

CGA, the only high school girls team in Indiana, will also play at 8:15 p.m. on Friday against the Pittsburgh Aviators; at 9:45 a.m., Saturday against the Ohio Flames; and 5:15 p.m., Saturday against the Pittsburgh Pens Elite.

All 18 games are free and open to the public. There will be a special 90-minute program on Saturday when interested girls can try playing hockey for free. That session will be conducted in Rink A from 1:45 to 3:15 p.m.
