Washington, D.C. – Senator Joe Donnelly, who serves on the Senate Armed Services Committee, is on a bipartisan mission in Afghanistan as part of a congressional delegation that also includes stops in Ukraine and Israel. Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) and Congressman Stephen Lynch (D-MA) are also on the delegation with Donnelly.
In Afghanistan, Donnelly met with Hoosier servicemembers, US military leaders as well as American and Afghan government officials. The Afghanistan mission comes as the drawdown of the American military presence continues and transition to Afghan security forces moves forward. In addition, Afghanistan is preparing to hold its presidential election on April 5.
