Members of the Marshal County Drainage Board approved the variance request of Troy Mangus for the Falk property along the Elmer Seltenright Ditch

Mangus said the landowner wants to apply to the CRP program to plant trees through the SAFE program which is part of the state program. He proposed a 50 foot grass filler strip along the edge of the ditch and then plant the rest of the area with trees. The board approved.

The Dogwood Road Drainage project is complete and the board certified the project collections in the amount of $64,516.89.

Drainage Board_Mike StrangMike Strang representing Ed and Linda Langfeldt appeared before the Drainage Board seeking a variance to reduce the set back on the A.T. Wallace Tile and approval of a retention basin.

Surveyor Larry Fisher had some concern on the southwest corner of the project between the building and the ditch. Fisher suggested extending the 36 inch pipe by several 100 feet but realized the additional expense. He also suggested shortening the length of the building to allow for access to the drain.
Board member Kevin Overmyer suggested having the Langfeldts pay to lengthen the pipe instead of reducing the length of the building.

Board member Jack Roose suggested a collaboration with the county paying a portion of the pipe project and having the Langfeldt’s pay on the project too.

The Drainage board approved the retention basin and two options on the variance to shorten the length of the final building or lengthen the 36 inch drainage tile. The Drainage Board would consider a cost sharing on the pipe project with negotiations between the two parties at a later date
